Two months away from the Grand National 2010, and already, bookies are handing out odds for the Grand National Runners and guessing who the winner of the 500,000 plus pound winner’s check will be. This should be enough to indicate to anyone that this famous race, run at the historical Aintree racecourse is by far the most prestigious race on the National Hunt horse-racing circuit.
In the month of April, every year, horse racing enthusiasts and curious crowds alike have flocked to Merseyside in their thousands to watch a hundred horses run the almost 5 mile course in a race for a place in history. This year is no different, with favorites like Tricky Trickster, Black Apalachi, Big Fella Thanks, Niche Market etc. set to enthrall millions around the UK and the world in their bid to become the next champion.
The 2010 Grand National, in its one hundred and sixty third edition, promises to be bigger than ever before with a purse of around a million pounds, and over a hundred million dollars changing hands between the bookies and punters. History will be made at the 2010 Grand National, and I’m geared up to catch every second of it.

Cheltenham is a town with a great and varied history. Not only is it famous for the well-known Cheltenham Festival (Races) it used to be a town of spas, due to the discovery of mineral springs there in the late 1700s.
Even today, a lot of health facilities are associated with Cheltenham, with its station being christened Cheltenham Spa. But what about the Cheltenham Race Festival- the one thing we really care about? This popular festival faced a lot of hiccups before its inception. In 1829 when the race track was located at Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham, the local Parish Priest decided to preach the evils of gambling. This led to such a violent response in the congregation that the grand stand was burnt down preceding the race course meeting of 1830. This led to the shifting of the race track to Pretsbury Park- the modern day venue of the Cheltenham Festival.
The history of the Race Festival, since then has been pretty tame- except of course for its wildly growing popularity among the people. The Cheltenham Festival is traditionally held on St. Patrick’s Day making it very popular among the Irish. This occurs sometime in March. It consists of four championship races- the Gold Cup, the Champion Hurdle, the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Stayers Hurdle.
The Cheltenham Race Festival indeed had a fascinating history and any racing enthusiast would be very interested in its development into one of the foremost Racing Festivals in the UK, today. To gather more information about this festival and the 2010 festival, visit www.cheltenham-races.com.

Traditionally wrist watches have been worn on the left wrist which is most commonly the wrist that is chosen for the watch to be worn because the majority of people are right handed in society that it avoids the watch being needlessly knocked about and possibly being damaged. You would be more likely to place your right hand in a sink of water than you would your left or if playing cricket or tennis you would be more likely to be using the bat or racket with your right arm. Therefore if your watch is worn on the lesser used arm then it helps to avoid that watch being knocked or bumped and possibly damaged.
The other obvious reason is that if you are right handed it is easier to make any adjustments to your watch with your right hand than to try fiddling around with the watch using your left hand. Not to feel left out – for the left handed person all of the above information simply gets reversed.
When fitting your watch it is important to get a comfortable and practical fitting so that you can easily tell the time and be able to read the watch accurately. If you are overly concerned about making sure you get this right, you could go to your local watch jeweler and the staff there will be able to assist you to get a proper and comfortable fit.
If you don’t have the resources to do this you can fit the watch yourself very easily by firstly placing the watch on your wrist but not actually strapping it yet. Most wrist watches have a strap that allows you to adjust the watch to fit your wrist. If your watch is one of these then you need to feed one end of the strap so that it goes through the buckle and then take the retainer pin and insert it into the hole. You should make sure the strap feels comfortable on your wrist at this point and that you can easily see the watch face and tell the time. The watch should be neither tight nor loose. Too tight and you will get a red mark on your arm, cut or the blood circulation or develop a rash. Too loose and you risk loosing your watch off your wrist and possibly never finding it again.
If your watch has what is known as a stretchy band then you simply place the watch band over your hand and onto your wrist and it will automatically be the right fit for you.
